With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) still very much in the news in Asia, we are keen to hear from those on the ground about how life and work is affected in Hong Kong.
We are grateful for the reply from one of our contacts - Eureka, a reputable English language school based in Hong Kong.
'We are aware that the Hong Kong SAR Government has rolled out measures to prevent a community outbreak of the COVID-19, which include a mandatory 14-day quarantine imposed on travellers entering Hong Kong from Mainland China. In addition, classes in Hong Kong schools will remain suspended until 16 Mar, according to the Education Bureau.
Despite the uncertainties Hong Kong is currently facing, Eureka's teacher recruitment work will not be affected as we believe that ESL teachers are still in great demand in Hong Kong.
We will continue to recruit teachers as usual, gearing up for the potential surge in demand for teachers once school resumes. It is also worth noting that our overseas recruitment process often entails time-sensitive procedures such as visa application and school interviews, which may take weeks or months to process. Therefore, we'd encourage anyone who is interested in teaching in Hong Kong in the near future to send us their application now and attend our interviews if they are selected.'
