The winners of the British Council Awards for innovation in ELT were announced in a glittering ceremony at the British Medical Association in London on Thursday 23rd May.
Enjoying the evening - and waiting nervously to find out if their short listed app had won an award, were Louisa and William from Global English TESOL. The British Council's ELTON awards, dubbed the Oscars of ELT, bought together short listed nominees from across the world to celebrate the latest advances in English teaching resources and approaches.
The short-listed app, Speak and Learn Business English, devised by William for Phone English, was a finalist in the Digital Innovation category. Though it did not go on to win, judges commented on the effective simplicity of the app.
Speaking after the event, William said,
"We are delighted by British Council recognition for the quality of our course content and design. The evening was also a great way to keep up with other new developments in ELT."
Keen to keep Global English TESOL at the forefront of quality providers, William is busy overseeing the creation of new, interactive TESOL courses. These will be launched on a specially built HTML5 platform later this year.
