France TAPIF New

Europe: France TAPIF - France

France's official government language-assistant scheme placing Americans as English assistants in French schools.

TAPIF, the Teaching Assistant Program in France, is the US strand of the French government's national foreign-language-assistant scheme, administered by France Éducation International with Villa Albertine. It places American citizens and permanent residents as English language assistants in French primary or secondary schools for a seven-month contract running October to April.

Requirements: US citizenship or permanent residency, a completed or in-progress degree, and intermediate French (B1). No teaching licence is needed - it is designed as a cultural-exchange and early-career opportunity rather than a career teaching post.

Salary & benefits: a monthly government stipend of around €1,010 gross for twelve teaching hours a week, usually across up to three schools, plus a long-stay visa. Overseas départements pay a cost-of-living premium.

Intake: applications open each November on the official TAPIF site and close in mid-March for the following academic year.

Apply directly via the official TAPIF programme. Get TESOL-qualified with Global English first to prepare for the classroom and get the most from your placement.
