Asia: ESL Academy Teachers Philippines - Philippines
Teach intensive English at a residential ESL academy in Cebu or Baguio, working with visiting students from Korea, Japan and China.
Location: Cebu and Baguio
Position: ESL teacher, intensive English academy
Vacancies: Ongoing – academies recruit year-round for rolling student intakes
Contract: 6 months to 1 year
Hours / duties: A full weekday timetable of one-to-one and small-group lessons for students from East Asia attending intensive residential English camps.
Pay: Typically PHP 25,000–45,000 a month (around £350–£650), which goes a long way given the low cost of living; on-site dormitory accommodation and meals are often included.
Additional benefits: Many academies assist with the visa and provide accommodation and meals on campus.
Qualifications and requirements
Minimum TESOL certificate: Any Global English TESOL qualification accepted.
Nationality: Native or fluent English speaker.
Other requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required for the 9(g) work visa, though some centres can hire on a Special Work Permit with a TEFL certificate; a clear, patient speaking style suits the intensive academy setting.
