Location: Vientiane
Position: English teacher, international / bilingual school
Vacancies: Mainly recruited around the academic-year start, with occasional mid-year posts
Contract: Typically 1–2 years
Hours / duties: A full weekday timetable teaching English within a Western or bilingual curriculum to primary or secondary classes.
Pay: Commonly US$800–1,500 a month (around £650–£1,200) depending on the school and your experience.
Additional benefits: Better-established schools may add flights, insurance or a housing allowance.
Qualifications and requirements
Minimum TESOL certificate: A Global English TESOL qualification of at least 120 hours; CELTA-equivalent training is welcomed.
Nationality: Native or fluent English speaker.
Other requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required for the work permit; classroom experience is preferred and improves both pay and prospects.
Vientiane is home to most of Laos’s international schools, language institutes and universities, making it the natural base for teachers wanting a curriculum role in a quieter corner of Southeast Asia.
