A leading private provider of Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) to the Japanese state school system is accepting applications from motivated, committed educators for vacancies across Japan, with regular intakes through the year.

Position: ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) in state schools
Vacancies: Multiple positions nationwide
Start dates: Regular intakes through the year (Spring and Autumn are the main starts). First contracts typically run 7–12 months and are renewable.
Pay: Monthly salary of approximately JPY 230,000–255,000 (less income tax of around 10%).
Benefits: Paid vacation entitlements (including school vacation periods and public holidays), reimbursement of commuting expenses, subsidised health insurance and free online Japanese lessons for qualified candidates.
Qualifications and requirements: A Global English TEFL/TESOL course, a bachelor’s degree, and at least 12 years of education in the medium of English.
Experience: Not essential but preferred. Previous ALT experience, Japanese language skills and a driving licence are advantageous, and early applicants are given preference on placement.
The ALT market in Japan is large and active, with private providers placing teachers in elementary, junior high and high schools nationwide. Attendance at an interview/orientation session is part of the recruitment process.
