Recruiting enthusiastic graduate volunteers to co-teach English across Colombia on 6 or 12-month placements. A monthly stipend is paid. Find out more.
Country: Colombia. Location preferences are considered, and placements are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Positions arise in cities across the country, including Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Bucaramanga, Manizales, Pereira, Santa Marta and many more.
Programme: A structured English-teaching fellowship placing native and fluent English speakers as co-teachers in public educational institutions.
Intakes: Main intakes run at the start of each academic term, typically around January and again mid-year.
Contract: 6 or 12 months.
Role: Co-teacher of English, working mainly with students aged 14 to 20, plus conversation clubs and coaching for local teachers. Around 25 hours of teaching-related activity plus 15 hours of planning, meetings and workshops per week, Monday to Friday.
Stipend and benefits: A monthly stipend of approximately COP 1,500,000, paid after each completed month, plus a completion bonus of the same amount. The first month's accommodation is provided, along with a two-week orientation in Bogota (lodging and food included).
Costs met by the participant: A refundable deposit, international airfare and international health insurance.
Essential requirements:
- Native English speaker, or a non-native speaker with C1-level English
- University degree
- Global English TESOL certification
- Aged between 21 and 55
- Clean criminal record and able to provide references
Desirable: travel or overseas-living experience, especially in Latin America, and a basic level of Spanish.
