Africa: Egypt International School English Teachers - Egypt
British and American international schools in Cairo and Alexandria recruit English teachers for kindergarten, primary and preparatory classes. Well-paid packages with accommodation allowance and flights.
Location: Cairo and Alexandria
Position: English / homeroom teacher (international school)
Vacancies: Recruited for the academic year, mainly from spring for a September start
Contract: One to two academic years (typically September to May/June)
Start dates: September, with the main hiring window January–May
Hours / duties: Teaching English and, in primary posts, a general curriculum to kindergarten, elementary and preparatory pupils in an international-school setting.
Pay: Tax-free monthly salary, commonly in the region of $600–$1,200 depending on the school and experience, well ahead of Egypt’s low living costs.
Additional benefits: Accommodation allowance, return airfare at the start and end of contract, local health insurance, school transport and paid summer vacation.
Qualifications and requirements
Minimum TESOL certificate: A 120-hour Global English TESOL qualification accepted.
Nationality: Native or near-native English speaker (UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa).
Other requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required; the employer sponsors the work permit. Some schools prefer prior classroom experience, though newly qualified teachers are considered.
Egypt’s large private and international-school sector is one of Africa’s strongest markets for qualified English teachers.
