Private language institutes in Cairo and Alexandria hire EFL teachers for adult general English, IELTS/TOEFL preparation and conversation classes. TEFL certificate and degree required.
Location: Cairo and Alexandria
Position: EFL teacher (private language institute)
Vacancies: Regular openings across established institutes
Contract: Term-to-term or annual, frequently renewed
Start dates: Rolling intakes through the year
Hours / duties: Teaching general English, exam preparation (IELTS/TOEFL) and conversation to teenagers and adults, often in afternoon and evening sessions.
Pay: Institute pay is commonly in the region of $600–$1,000 per month for full timetables, with experienced contracted teachers earning around $13 per hour; comfortable against Egypt’s very low cost of living.
Additional benefits: Employer support with the business/work visa; some institutes offer accommodation help for teachers relocating.
Qualifications and requirements
Minimum TESOL certificate: A 120-hour Global English TESOL qualification accepted.
Nationality: Native or near-native English speaker (UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa).
Other requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required; teaching experience is preferred by some institutes but entry-level candidates are considered.
