TESOL Levels Upgrade

TESOL Levels Upgrade
Quick answer: From September 2013, ACTDEC re-levelled all Global English TESOL courses – for example the 250-hour course became Level 5 – to align more closely with recognised benchmarks like UK NVQ levels and better demonstrate course quality to employers.

If you’re revisiting the Global English TESOL website, you may have noticed some changes to our ACTDEC accredited courses.

After consultation with its members, ACTDEC, the independent body that accredits our TEFL/TESOL courses, has upgraded all course levels. It has published the new course levels on its site, active from 9th September 2013.

What changed, and why

As a result all ACTDEC accredited TESOL courses on the Global English site have been re-levelled accordingly and are now listed as follows:

* 250 hour Level 5 TESOL (formerly level 3)
* 150 & 180 hour level 4 TESOL (formerly level 2)
* 120 hour level 3 TESOL (formerly level 2)
* 70 & 100 hour level 2 TESOL (formerly level 1)

Why is this Good news for Global English TESOL trainees?

This is good news because the new levels:

* more accurately reflect the work undertaken by students.
* are now more broadly in line with other nationally understood benchmarks, such as NVQ levels in the UK.
* better promote course quality to employers

New certification for graduates

New Certification

All Global English trainees graduating after from 10th September 2013 will be entitled to purchase an ACTDEC certificate reflecting the new levels.

Existing Global English TESOL certificate holders who wish to upgrade their ACTDEC certificates can do so for a small fee via the ACTDEC site. Contact ACTDEC for more information.
