About the role:
Private language schools and academies in Istanbul recruit EFL teachers from overseas throughout the year. Depending on the school you may teach adults in the evenings and at weekends, or school-age learners during the day. Timetables are typically around 20-25 teaching hours per week. Language schools hire year-round, with peak recruitment in summer for September starts.
Contract and benefits:
Contracts are commonly 12 months and renewable. Employers usually offer a competitive local salary, assistance in finding accommodation, airport pick-up and support with your work permit and visa. Exact pay and benefits vary by school.
Qualifications and requirements:
A university degree and an accredited Global English TESOL certificate are required for the work visa. Employers look for excellent spoken and written communication, a positive outlook and a genuine desire to teach. Prior classroom experience is preferred but not always essential.
