Teach English in Spain as a classroom assistant
Supported classroom-assistant schemes place native and fluent English speakers in Spanish primary and secondary schools to help pupils improve their English. They are a popular, well-organised way to live in Spain for the school year, gain classroom experience and improve your own Spanish.
The role
- Assisting teachers and working with pupils, typically aged 3–16, to build their spoken English
- Placements usually run through the school year, at around 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Locations across Spain, including Catalonia and the Valencia region
Typically offered
- A monthly allowance plus accommodation, meals and daily transport, often with a host family
- A supportive scheme and, on some programmes, Spanish lessons
Requirements
- Native-level English and, for some schemes, a degree or the right to work in the EU
- A Global English TESOL certificate
