Teach young learners English in Portugal
Demand for children's and teenage English classes is strong across Portugal, as families invest in after-school English to give their children a head start. Language schools and academies recruit enthusiastic teachers to run lively young-learner classes in Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Coimbra and smaller towns nationwide.
The role
- Planning and teaching engaging English lessons for primary and secondary-age students
- Using games, songs, projects and coursebooks to build speaking confidence
- Working mostly afternoons and early evenings, when children attend after school
Typically offered
- A local salary in the region of €1,000–€1,400 net, with Christmas and summer bonus payments
- Induction, training and ready-made young-learner materials
- Help with accommodation and paperwork
Requirements
- A recognised 120-hour TEFL/TESOL qualification such as the Global English TESOL certificate
- Patience, energy and a real enjoyment of teaching children
- EU citizens can work freely; non-EU applicants should hold the right to work in Portugal
