New Asia: Taiwan TFETP - Taiwan
The Taiwan Foreign English Teacher Program (TFETP) is the Ministry of Education's official route for recruiting overseas English teachers into Taiwan's public schools, part of the national push toward a bilingual Taiwan. Run by the K-12 Education Administration, it places qualified foreign teachers and teaching assistants in elementary and secondary schools nationwide, with a stated target of around 980 recruits for 2026.
Requirements: a passport from a country where English is an official or widely used language, a bachelor's degree, and - depending on the track - a teaching licence or a recognised TEFL/TESOL certificate.
Salary & benefits: a salary set on the official Ministry pay scale according to qualifications and experience, plus reimbursed airfare, insurance, housing reimbursement and structured professional development.
Intake: applications are assessed on a rolling basis until posts are filled, and are made directly through the official TFETP portal rather than to individual schools.
Apply directly via the official TFETP portal. Get TESOL-qualified with Global English first - the teaching-assistant track accepts a recognised TEFL/TESOL certificate.
