Student Comments

Peer reviewed by three experienced teachers, who work with refugees in the UK, read their comments on the course below:

"This course is carefully prepared, clearly set out, easy to access and use, and there is a sense of being well supported.

Module one provides a very good general lead-in, which will reassure anyone who is new to the issue of working with refugees. I loved the videos from the refugees themselves.  They tell us real stories beyond the news headlines and sensational statistics, these are real lives and real people.

Module two introduces essential English with good videos and is delivered in a very reassuring style, with the main focus on keeping everything simple. Louisa’s video is really friendly and accessible. She speaks clearly and carefully without being patronising. I loved the miming activities and it was very easy to progress through the slides. This will really help anyone new to teaching.

Module three gets the trainee to grips with grammar. It’s a worthwhile, unpressured lead-in for those who have not regularly used grammar books to teach. Particularly useful is that some language mistakes that Ukrainian nationals could make are mentioned.

Module four brings the course to life. It was really interesting to hear about real experiences from a family hosting a Ukrainian refugee and also the videos from experienced teachers on what works well for them.

I can fully recommend the Enter English course. I think it’s useful for teachers, hosts, and all supporters of Ukrainians and foreign nationals."
Rose Edney

"The first module about refugee status etc. was very helpful as, though we've been through the process of supporting a brother and sister get leave to remain in the UK (because of persecution in their own country) and even had an asylum seeker live with us, this module brings us bang up to date with current legislation and terminology.

I find the videos very helpful and the questions help me keep up concentration."
Helen Watt

"I think the course will be excellent for people wanting to support refugees with learning English and I would be happy to recommend it."

Course Description

Our interactive courses are innovative and take a fresh approach to training to teach English.

With shorter modules that you can take on a computer (notebook/laptop or PC/Mac) or on a tablet device (ipad/android/windows etc.), this course offers full flexibility for training on the go. After watching an initial welcome video, you can dive straight in to the course or pick and choose the order of the modules that you work through.

Works successfully with touch-screen pcs so you can rearrange the course size with minimal loss of resolution.

Access your personal tutor who will mark your work and the opportunity to share teaching ideas on the Global English forum, all via your own student area.

Built in HTML5, you can take this course from anywhere with a good internet connection.  You will also need to be able to access YouTube videos from where you are located.

“What I like about this new layout is that it’s easier to go back to a section if you need to revise it, assisted by the fact that the information is more segmented, given in smaller bites and that when you hover your mouse over a page on the Dashboard page, it gives you a title.”
