How does it work?
It’s a great way to find your voice as a TESOL/TEFL teacher, overcome those teaching nerves and benefit from one-to-one development, tailored just for you.
What will I teach on my PTP?
Check out the course content tab for each session breakdown. Times are flexible and negotiable to suit both you and the tutor.
* Eligibility
Teaching Practice Programme duration
This short PTP course can easily be completed across a few days or weeks to suit you. However, you have up to 60 days to complete it from registration.
What do I need to participate?
* A PC/laptop/iPad/tablet/phone with a webcam and microphone, and the ability to screen share.
* Headphones are preferred but not essential.
* You will need some basic Zoom competency, such as the ability to join the session, enable your camera/sound, etc. Each session is preceded by a short module and it's essential you prepare before coming on to each session. After the first session, times are negotiated between you and your tutor. It is your responsibility to be ready technically for each Zoom session and you will need to have your microphone enabled and web-cam on.
What about any tech problems on the day?
We know it happens occasionally. Hopefully, you will have worked through any major Zoom issues beforehand. On the day, if you have trouble getting online, get in touch. We will try to help, but we cannot guarantee support and you should consider that if you cannot connect to the agreed session time with your tutor, you will have lost your slot. Slots can be re-booked upon payment of a £10 slot transfer fee.

Session 1: Warmers and Engagement Activities
Get started on the right foot! Here we look at the first few minutes of any online lesson. Focus on age and level-appropriate instructions and effective use of technology, such as share-screen, showing images, setting up activities, etc.
Session 2: Teaching a Low Level Learner
Focus on pre-teaching of new language, ask questions to demonstrate that new language has been understood, correction of student errors, and level appropriate language for instructions.
Session 3: Teaching a reading or speaking skills lesson
Teach a reading or speaking/conversation-based lesson with clear stages.
A great chance to teach your own lesson plan from the Global English TESOL course or skills plan you have created from a different TESOL/TEFL course.
Session 4: Teaching a grammar-based lesson
Deliver your grammar lesson on the present perfect vs past simple from the Global English TESOL course, with a focus on meaning and form, or a grammar plan you have created from a different TESOL/TEFL course.
Session 5 - Teach a first conversation-based lesson
You have freedom here to decide what you will teach in this online lesson to a new student. Our module will give you guidance on how to do this and it can be to a learner at any level.
Total course time: 10 hours
The first session is set at the time and date shown above in orange. Other sessions are set in consultation with your course tutor.
