Planning is easy when you have options in life

How Global English trainees have helped transform a life in Uganda

You may know that Global English gives 10% of its profits to the Amigos charity which supports education in Uganda through child sponsorship and its ground breaking vocational training centre, Kira Farm.  This is good to know, but what difference does this kind of funding make on the ground to individuals?

Well, this year we’ve been keeping in touch with Kira farm trainee, Sarah Tybo, who explains the huge difference that being supported to train at Kira has made to her life….

December 2015 from Sarah

''Hope you are well. I am fine planning my going home in the next few weeks. It has been a huge opportunity for me being on Kira Farm getting lots of skills.

Before coming to Kira I always underestimated myself as a girl. Without a good education and no skills and yet I had a child to take care of. Things were never easy for me. I am now filled with lots of joy about my future. I have been waking up every morning planning on how I am going to settle in to my life back home.  With the knowledge and skills I have I am overwhelmed by what I can now do.

Planning becomes easy when you have options in life.  I am now blessed because I have options of making it either in hairdressing, tailoring or farming and with the business skills I have been blessed with at the end of my training and a chance of running a small business on limited capital and yet I managed to make some profits...

Thanks a lot for loving me and giving me a life full of options. I will be sending you my last email in the coming month as I happily leave Kira for home.''

Thanks to all Global English trainees whose course fees have helped support people like Sarah.
