OUP’s latest addition to the Oxford basics series promises the TEFLer detailed, practical help with the complexities of English grammar, for Elementary to Intermediate level classes.
Double-page ‘Activities’, 25 in all, offer full lesson plans with practical, step-by-step instructions based on key techniques with dialogues, stories, information gap, roleplay, pictures and realia. Each illustrates the teaching of a specific problem area, while a follow-up section usefully shows how the approach can be extended to other tenses and structures..
A non-technical and informal ‘mini-manual’, “Teaching Grammar" may give even old hands a pointer or two. The less experienced will find a range of techniques they’ll find useful in class after class.
