Thailand Teaching Practice Terms and Conditions

Application for enrolment onto the Teaching Practice Week in Phuket is seen as acceptance of the following terms and conditions. Global English (GE) reserves the right to change or amend the terms and conditions of the programme at any time. Please read the following information carefully.

1) Company - The name and address of the supplier is Global English, Senate Court, Southernhay Gardens, Exeter, EX1 1NT, United Kingdom. The partners are William Bradridge and Louisa Walsh. 2) Enrolment - acceptance on the course is at the discretion of the GE Director of Studies. GE reserves the right to refuse any application. GE trainees who have completed modules 1 and 2 of any TESOL Level 1 or Level 2 courses are eligible to start the online component. Non GE applicants should hold a TEFL certificate course or equivalent (minimum of 100 study hours). Application and payment for a specific course date should be made within 31 days of course commencement. Should an application not be accepted, prospective trainees will receive a full refund of monies paid for the onsite component. Providing information which is incorrect will either result in refusal of admission or expulsion from the course when discovered.

3) Pricing – GE provides either 1 or 2 week Teaching Practice programmes in Phuket. Fees for the online and TP programmes can be found on the TEFL THAILAND page of our website. Sterling prices are fixed although other currency prices may change subject to exchange rate fluctuations.

4) Method of payment - Trainees pay at point of sale.

A) By Internet/telephone – trainees complete the online enrolment form which is submitted to GE. GE then contacts trainee (usually by telephone) to confirm dates and take payment. GE accepts payment by MasterCard, Visa credit/debit cards, or UK issued Maestro cards. You can choose to pay in the following currencies: US Dollar, Euro, Sterling or AU Dollars. GE processes your card for either the full payment for online/onsite programmes, or half of the fees, depending on your preference. The remaining fees will be taken from your card either 60 days later, or within 31 days of onsite course start, whichever is earlier. Please note that the first payment contains an initial deposit of £50 / $100 US for the TP element. A receipt and confirmation of acceptance will be sent via email once entry onto the onsite course in confirmed. Should an application not be accepted, prospective trainees will receive a full refund of the onsite TP course deposit.

B) By post – Prospective trainees may telephone and request an application form by post. No dates may be reserved until payment has been made.


5) Cancellation policy – After onsite TP course acceptance is formally confirmed by GE, the initial deposit becomes non-refundable. Should prospective trainees decide not to participate in the course after an application has been accepted, the Global English cancellation policy is as follows:
  • Cancellation prior to 31 days of the course commencement:
    100% refund (less deposit)

  • Cancellation between 44 and 31 days of the course commencement:
    50% refund (less deposit)

  • Cancellation within 31 days of the course commencement: no refund

For the purposes of Cancellation, course commencement means 08.00 GMT of the agreed course start date, as published on our website. Formal written notification to Global English (by letter or email) is required before cancellation is accepted. Should GE or our partner TEFL school need to cancel a course for any reason, notification will be given in writing and a full refund of all course fees and deposit will be made.

6) Course transfer – Students may transfer to another course date on the following conditions:

1) Availability of preferred course dates.
2) Transfer is made prior to 31 days before any course commencement.
3) With the agreement of GE and our partner school

Course transfers are not permitted within 31 days of course commencement. A non-refundable course transfer fee of £25 is required to facilitate any course transfer. Once a course transfer has been made, no refund of any course fees or further course transfer is permitted whatsoever.

7) Late entry – On occasion, at the discretion of GE, students may be granted entry onto courses within the 31 day period prior to the course commencement. Late entry is only granted if space is available. When late entry is granted a late entry fee of £25 is applicable. A 7 day full refund policy applies to all late entries from the date of application. No entry onto courses is permitted within 7 days of course commencement.

8) Insurance – It is strongly recommended that trainees take out insurance to cover course cancellation and that all trainees purchase general travel insurance at the time of course acceptance confirmation. GE do not accept responsibility for any costs incurred due to cancelled courses, other than the course fees themselves, which will be reimbursed (as per clause 5, above).

9) Flights, Transfers and Accommodation – Trainees are solely responsible for booking flights. If you have arranged it, our partner school in Phuket will arrange your accommodation for the duration of your stay while on the TP programme, and all agreed transfers.

10) Course Commencement and Attendance – Students are required to abide by all rules and regulations of the TEFL school while participating on the teaching programme.

11) Work opportunities - GE trainees are teaching worldwide. However, successful completion of our courses or the Teaching Practice Week in Thailand does not guarantee employment. From time to time, recruiting schools and organisations contact GE looking for teachers. We may post details on our web site and/or contact prospective trainees who may be interested in these posts. However, these schools are not known to GE and we strongly advise you to vet terms and conditions carefully before accepting work.

12) Data Protection - Global English is registered with the Data Protection Agency. To facilitate certain tasks and communication between ourselves and our trainees, we store some details about enquirers and trainees electronically. These include contact details, grades obtained on any Global English course and details of email correspondence. However, this is strictly for use by Global English only and details will not be released to third parties, with the exception of relevant information to out TEFL partner school. Note that we do not store debit or credit card details on our databases. We employ firewall and computer virus protection and take all possible steps to safeguard personal data. Corresponding with Global English by email is seen as acceptance of our data protection policy. Please be aware that we cannot be held responsible for the content, procedures or data policies of websites that we may have links with.

13) Global English and English law and liability – Global English is a partnership that resides in the UK and is subject to English law. Transacting with Global English is seen as acceptance of the terms and conditions here stated and, should a dispute arise, any proceedings are to be conducted in the UK and are to be subject to English law. Global English shall not be liable for any loss or damage of whatever nature which may arise as a result, directly or indirectly from entry and/or participation on the programme.
